Future Living continues

Hi again! It is the wee hour of morning, close to 6:00 am now ( M'sian time ). I had just read the comment from edipen ( Eddy ) and replied with my personal feeling of getting into blogs this very day. How I started is something that comes vide a kind of natural way. Well, natural in a sense that at my young age, my ambition was to become a journalist. But after school, I never had this chance though I worked with the newspaper company. I had to survive back then so I worked whatever I could find, never stopped. I am never jobless. I quit a job only after I have comfortably found another.

Worst is, at that time if you are not confirmed officially by the Company, you can be there for as long as the time permits you. They wants you to work and yet they don't make you a confirm staff so that they don't increase your salary. In that they could at their discretion terminate you as and when they feel like it within 24 hours! You are so dispensable. That's ok! But the point is you cannot leave the Company as and when you like. You had to give them 1 month's notice ( which I personally think is good for the Company ) so that they could get a replacement. Better than that, they will take the excuse on the income tax ( in those days, income-tax department are ... my god I just don't wanna mention it - they sit on their ass! ) clearance before they could release your pay. And, my goodness! You can wait for ages for that miserable letter! ( and I knew nuts about income tax! )

Or it could be the Company, not happy of you leaving them for good ( infact those days getting staffs were a headache too ) take their own sweet time to submit to the income tax dept of which those fellas will take another much longer time to clear! And how was I to sustain on the new Company that I am going to work for? No pay to feed the stomach? So, I had to find ways to do it. Get some money from home or some nice working friend ( most of them were also quite the same plight as me ) to loan a couple of dollars ( at that time still not RM yet ) to continue with life and pay them when we get the next pay. Horrandous!!

Well, I am a workaholic by nature. A self disciplined and independent guy. I discover the world without guidance from my family members. I walked out of the house and started feeding myself. I did got into the media once in 1977 but it did not work out because then they looked at me and said, "you are the guy". The guy means they see me a potential to do sales. And because I was a proven hard worker in just a very short period of time with them, they pushed me to more responsibilities. And so it seems for a green horn like me who know next to nothing of the outside sales world! Well, so I worked like a log! And never had a chance in journalism. I tried other papers but there were just too many over qualifieds. Furthermore, the media are also a stingy lot too! They try every possible way to drench you dry of your pocket! That I knew from other reporters whom I made friends with. Being a reporter too was tough at that time.

I worked and I worked, just follow instructions and mind you, I was underpaid. Practically just enough to eat and pay my transportation expenses and a place for shelter, pump some gas, had some decent food and hardly ever drink much at coffee shops. Mostly quenching away at roadside stalls. Having a bottle of coke was a rare case. Not even any other soft drinks. Fruits are of course even far reachable. And not to mention much about attire. Gee, and how are we to get on the road for sales if we are so rotten on clothings? Luckily for me our Singapore relatives were of some kind of help. My many trips to Singapore has taught me much about dressing up. For this I was more fortunate than the locals. At least I picked up some fashion. Malaysia has always been 10 or 20 years behind time back then. We were so ulu ( means very country bumpkin in Malay language ) and so "kayu" ( actually is wood, so we can say we are so blockhead! ) Haha!!

Well, those were the days. Now Malaysia has technology! With technology, comes power and comes great responsibilities! Spiderman talk, hehe!! Today, we had our guy landmarked at outer space. Successful mission brings pride to our country though he did not shoot up from our own land. We "tumpang" ( meaning hitch a ride in Malay ) to achieve that is good enough. What more do we demand? Not easy to be an astronaut everyday, you know. At least we have a compatible Neil Armstrong !

So, we can now say we are close to Future Living, yes? Our technology skills have gone far and wide too. Malaysians now can easily upgrade their tech knowledge, or else our national broadband users won't be a million! Target achieved by hook or by crook anyway. With our Multimedia Super Corridor thing on going, we are a step closer to the future. MSC status are getiing more realistic. We have much to thank LimKwokWing Institute for that and getting students with jobs abroad.

And if we do not prosper for this field, we wouldn't have given more foreigners Datukship. So true that our Datuk Michelle Yeoh who tie in her hubby, a Ferrari CEO, Jean Todt! Malaysia Boleh ( means can in Malay ) to become a Datuk ( well, a Sir to mention perhaps ). That settled the case of making Malaysia My Second Home program. Hurray! This will help promote Malaysia to the world even more. This will improve credibility to our blogging as well. Haha!!

At least people around the world recognises Malaysia. We have put a dot in the map! If not for all these happenings, we might be an unknown to many countries. Now that we have A Space Odyssey dreams come true, we are into the Future! Proud as can be! Hardly half a century from the first man on the moon ( only some 38 years ago )

We also have our former Prime Minister, Datuk Dr Seri Mahathir to thank for all the hard work that he has done in profiling us, travelling abroad and "selling" and bringing back many futuristic dreams. No matter what, he has done us proud. And so, what does the future holds for us now that we have landed in space? Of course, plus the ever involvement in technology and super wired highways, we will see a shorter link to an advanced environment. Our lives will change indefinitely.

That I have sounded in my earlier blogs somewhere.
Well, Goodbye yellow brick road !
Congrats to Malaysia on this giant leap!!
Ok. I have to take a short break for now. Will continue my blog on this again, real soon. Appreciate your invested time here. Assuring you of more time here, I wish you will have a nice fresh day! Until we meet again, see you soon!

Future Living

Oh, hi there once again! I'm back after 2 days of my blog on the closing of Just Be Free - the initiation of the beginning of Future Living. Thanks to Adsence's encouragement anyway. Most helpful for starters to the "virtual journalism"

Where my journalism affair never got a chance on the media all the way thru my younger days, I should be glad I finally found a place of freedom of career for this freedom of speech! How convenient and at own pace of time! This has been in the news in our country, Malaysia too is encouraging people to pick up this trade. Articles are getting more frequent on blogging for a living. So what I had in mind for years has materialize as if a kind of prediction came true - Future Living.

I did blog on this same title over MP3.com ( as I have mentioned in the earlier blogs ) but just a brief start-up and not continued until this very day. It was a matter of inspiration rather than with any intent of doing a full write-up. And that was many months back earlier this year.

Actually, on my last blog, I mentioned something like returning to this space latest by early November, right? Well, my mind boggling ideas has been haunting me each day and I feel like I have a lot of stuffs to pen as quickly as possible. So little time and so much to do!
I am also on the verge of reshuffling my articles, news cuttings and mags arrangements.
Today I am trying not to break off the link that I started off on my earlier blogs.

And with this, I hope I could come back to this space each day. If time permits, and at the same time I need to keep on reading infos and other write-ups that are meant for the coming trend on technology. The developers especially and not forgetting the techno industrial producers of the dominating market of technological products. In short, it's just about IT!

Just too many at hands to mention on the advancement of hitech. The micro chip's super technological move is enabling many to improvise and implement in their products to meet the future. Many will see the coming of super tech world in the very near future, very very near of which we will see the kick off of the drastic change just from 2006. Many would materialise by 2010. 2010 I recon will be the year of dominating another new era of technology. What age are we coming to, anyone? Of course we are also talking about saving earth, go
green. That's why all products electronics and electrical would be ROHs classified. Compulsory might be the word.

The
Green Era probably would best describe what is coming. ROHs already has been going on for the last two years or so but just that it did not mean business as yet, until now of course! And you bet it will be inscribed in almost every tech products you could get hold of. Many standing orders going off the production of some manufacturers will need to quickly get rid of their soon to be discarded parts and what nots.

Our concern now is are we going super fast? Can we all be able to meet the outcome? Of course it is coming down quite reasonably cheap and more affordable. But are consumers able to compare what is mentioned here is cost effective than years ago when it was just called computers? Yeah and we know 3rd party productss are going to press hard on what you started on. Just look at the add-ons nowadays to the PC that you own. Working on just the basics aren't enough. You need to add RAMs, super RAMs which DDR3 does not come cheap if we are talking about adapting to the soon to be common thing - the Windows Vista O/S! Graphics is also another subject since we are all talking about multi-tasking multi-Media. Monitors too are getting flatter, lighter and bigger! 22" are almost the norm compared to years ago when 17" was already huge. Then we would talk about sounds and interconnectivity like WiFi or even maybe Wibree ( by Nokia ) to conveniently come at par with the blue tooth technology? Trying to be as wireless as possible.

Come what may! Hard disks are also getting into the next revolution in space storage. Terrabyte is going to be the next standard soon on the coming year although talks are comparing the prices of 2x500GB being cheaper to own. But it is going to be a thing of the past just like before when the impossible dreams of 10GB hard disks. My idea is adaptation. We all live to adapt in a matter of time and the waiting game is getting narrower as people are getting into the trend of acceptance of the technology. Follow the trend is by far coming to an acceptance by the younger generations as they are the ones who wanna have speed. Faster  and faster! Always never fast enough and they are so spoilt on boring holes in their pockets, constantly upgrading. No end to this ownership will gear up the movement of technology with much confidence of the implementation. Targets of getting the products into the market are quite easily achievable. Getting to people with their products are many many times easier and almost fail safe and has lesser worries of risks.

Alright, we could just take a break now. Time for me to take my leave again. I'll be back real soon. I am just as eager as anyone else. Need room to buckle up my notes. Mind me, they are still lying all over my workspace. I am like a man of the future, working with a space that was already been implemented some 10 years back. So, am I not fit for the Future Living? You too should look into yourself sitting in front of your PC, importantly staying healthy!
Bye for now!! See ya very soon. And have a nice day!!

Just Be Free - Continuation

Hello-there once again! Had a nice weekend?
Well, it was my birthday over the week so I had a quiet celebration with my family, @ a Tea Garden. the latest trend around town on latest style of coffee shop but somewhat more cozy, not roudy like the normal coffee shops. Trying to adapt the city life style. Though new, there are a few slowly adapting to this kind of concept. It is going to be in trend soon. Other than Beer Gardens, this is the sprouting of Tea Gardens.

Looks very dim lit in the evening and providing economy food stall style with a little bit extra in between a coffee house and a coffee shop price. At least in this kind of environment, people who are not of high calibre and wanted to walk in at least would take a bath dress up more casually.
They do dispense some beers though but of smaller bottles, just to cater for some who would want a refreshing drinks other than coffee, tea or fruit juice. Not forgetting they also have "ice-kachang" ( a malay name for a bowl of tall iced nuts with a few coloured jelly, a few types of coloured syrups, some of which had  chocolate sauce ). They also have the Indian "chendol" also a kind of jelly, made from pandan leaves deeped in coconut juice with a brownish syrup made from "gula melaka" ( a popular kind of cycindrical brown sugar from Melaka ).

Well, anyway, we had a fat meal, spending most of our evenings sitting there chit-chatting and had many types of dishes. From curry dishes to spaghetti. So they are filled with local cuisines to western food.

As the Malays are still in their New Year mood ( Hari Raya as it is known ), the shopping complexes are a bit quiet as we spent about an hour or so getting some sundries as usual to fill up our food storage for the week.

I managed to grab hold of 7 seasons of Star Trek Deep Space 9 DvD movie ( about 26 pcs or so I think ) home with Spiderman 3, 1408 and RISE, Blood Hunter. But too bad my 29" LG Tv failed to function all of a sudden thus I had a dull Sunday, but I did surf the net logging into IGN for the HALO 3 previews and free stuffs like the trailers, screenshots and wallpapers.

Then I decided to do some reshuffling and editing of photos into my live spaces blogs.  Now just after mid-night in Malaysia, I am posting over this blog of MeBeFree as I promised I would.

Frankly speaking I have not got hold of a really interesting topic yet though I had it in my mind what I wanted my blog to be. Currently I am just trying to make myself in a introductory mode. I need to have a plan over my ideas, gather some stuffs on the articles that I'm having and then putting them to work with utmost care. That would only make a blog interesting to return to, isn't it right? Well, shy to say, what's with an amateur's mind though I do write quite a bit.

Other bloggers' stuffs sometimes crosses what I had in mind! So, we need to carefully think what we need to say to the world although it might somewhat clashes with other blogs but we could try putting them in other words. After all we are only just beginning, in our infantry. Imagine something like less than 10% people blogging online! Well, everybody has got a story to tell or some news in our own surroundings to share. Or maybe something that we read about that somebody else have not. That's all about sharing.

And as I am typing here, in Malaysia, my notes do not just stay in Malaysia but will be transported thru this electronic highway to the rest of the world! That is vast and yet getting people to almost become neighbours! Ain't that interesting! In my 50 years of living, and getting along with tech for about 20 over odd years is soon going to get more than advance - future living ( a topic I blogged @mp3.com many months back ). We are getting into a very advance future and it is not stopping anyway. At least not when the forthcoming of the so-called Internet 3! Hi-speeds over broadbands are no longer a common thing. So we are talking about something like 10 Gigabits of speed ?? Super don't you think so? We at the current moment are running our broadbands at only 1 megabit per sec!! My, what a vast difference and it seems like this talk that is materialising is sounding the impossible, yet it is happening. It's incredible at the speed things are moving these days! Malaysia now has launched the 4 megabits band width, especially targeting on the WiFi band waves.

At least next year we see some big improvements in speed over the virtual world! More to come would be walking gadgets - yeah the communication and entertainment arena. Watching Tv anywhere you want and also probably having the holographic communication system within our daily lives ( in due time ). Then the HD and blue ray thing will be a common event come 2008. So are the movies' new gigs in the future. Big changes coming to the big screens will come right into our homes. MTVs will be a big event too. Invisible music will have to be very much full of surround hifidelity sound. The screen right in front of our eyes to watch a big 36 or probably even 48" screens are a reality now. Just like bringing a projector right in front of your eyes! The projectors will only be meant for business offices and conventions. Imagine wearing spectacles watching individually your home theatre movies, and with surround sound?

My work years ago was involved very much in building workstations for offices and especially more on call centres who has dawn into the open plan workspaces. And fully integrated into how work is done at their desks all full of PCs. Slow PCs mann! What I am sitting right in front was once upon a time the future workstation that has materialized eventually. And all that ergonomic talk we had at that time was somewhat very very new and quite unknown even in the corporate sector. What? Have to sit ergonomically, even the typist chair for a clerk or an exec? Well, in those days the man hours on PC was so very unacceptable as the PC then and now are totally 2 different thing altogether. Work are so vigourous that I personally encounters some who had to have their wrists operated! The veins got bloated, swollen! My god! Many may not know about it and also alot of backaches too! Rheumatism was a common case as well, as far as I have encountered. Imagine we had to work with Windows 3 with unimaginable RAMs capacity. What? 1 MEGABYTE?? Whoooff! I just can't imagine it being half of that, and worst if to talk about the cost of PC. What more if anybody who know about DOS 5 OS. Harddisk at that time is just even worst than a CD-Rom. 20 MB! Hmm! What else if we wanna bring out topic on the VDUs that we had! Black/white and green screens anyone?

Yes, there is no end to comparison to the world of technology today and only about 10 years back. Don't even wanna mention some 20 years ago when the word PC still do not exist! We called it the computer. I once even had a Sinclair Keyboarded PC! Plugged onto our home Tv, working with the buzzing cassette tapes, hearing all those squeeky noise as if ET phone home. 48k my friend! I later upgraded to a 128k! Yes, only in kilobytes memory! Have you been in that speed?

I'd wonder how many people of today even has seen Steven Spielberg's ET ? That, is why now we see a sample movie file in the Shared Video of latest XP, containing a short portion of ET. Anybody watched it? Haha!! What's that?

If you say Warcraft or HALO many would know about. Graphics talk is all about it. Imagine average graphic cards are around USD500 in common sight. Well, in order to be online to those games madness!

So, after all that talks I put forth, shouldn't I be talking technology history of which would be a favourable topic? So I say what I had in mind is to share some "ghost" stories like this technology. Yeah, Ghosts of Technology would be a good start? My stuffs then would be meant for those who has the hi tech of today without realising or knowing of the past at all. I mean where can one read about it? All is written nowadays is how fast things should be. Where to find some space or time to put in words for past tech? I mean who or why bother?

Ok, since we are living in a multi-tasking networking world of technology, I think sharing is so so convenient and fun of course! This sort of linking would bring the world closer. Well, now I think I need to take my leave once again for the time being and I would come back with the first text of my real talks soon. Latest beginning November?

Hahaha!! I do have alot of stuffs down here I need to do and some gigs to resolve. So, I'll see ya soon! Have a nice time "travelling" before we catch up with each other again. Bye!

Just Be Free

Well, in a wink of an eye, it's been nearly a month since I first set blog at this spot. Time really flies! But, no, I haven't been lazy. As a matter of fact I have been in this digital divide all the time. Out there somewhere, someplace, somehow, making some preparations for photo-blogs so that I could make the link later on.

Almost one whole month I have been doing that, but actually working hours are somewhat full anyway. Before this, I had a blog @mp3.com - written a topic on Future Living. I had my mebefree going @flickr of which my group, The World of Glorious Life has expanded beyond boundaries! My, the link joint in was fantastic! We had lots to share. No doubt I have not invited any to msn with me yet. Fear of running out of time.

Also, my family and I have been planning some more photography sessions too. We'll have to make lots of compilation before posting them into my blogsphere.

Walla! Before I could really speak out on any title, I have already come this far. Imagine how much time one can spend in front of their screen in order to participate actively in blogging!
Since I wrote Future Living @mp3.com under my name, McCheah, a lot of things came by talking about the preparation of future changes. A place you can view about this new thing is at You Tube entitled Pangeaday. Search for it and you'll know what i meant. Spend some time to watch the talk. Quite some length though but a must see! You might then consider joining the group.

For the whole month, many blog news are becoming more and more interesting. One such is Windows Live upgrade, Yahoo and iGoogle's new themes, add-ons, etc. Also many third party operators too has become more active. In fact, aggressive. Adsence too, since under the rule of Google. Then we can see a lot of improvement over Google Earth. Yahoo's new 360 degree is getting into the theme as well. Of course then not forgetting the upgrade of Windows Live. These 3 giants are enough to kill us. So what more to talk about some other new players to the blogging scene. In fact some are not new. They are merely upgrading and promoting. Facebook for once has not been so user-friendly so much so that I stopped halfway thru. I hated the waiting! Unlike Windows Live as we are updating, it is really live! Real time mann! Update even your photos is as fast as live too!

This could be fun!

Okay, time to put a stop for awhile. Promise I will continue this same title as an update - Part 2. I need to get some sleep ( as usual ) as I have slept only for about 2 hours or so. My eyes are drooping!

Ghee! Seems like whenever I start typing halfway, I always feel this notch, especially day time!
Well, you see I am a Night Owl!! Owuoo!!!
See ya real soon! What to expect me still being an amateur! Keep smiling!

Free Journey

Today, is the beginning of a brand new day, now that I am into discovery in a Blog site, the Blogger, of Google. Billions already signed in but I am just starting out like most did on their first moment. Exciting for me to start this Free Journey!

Just past 2pm local Malaysian time. Tv on with afternoon matinee entitled Captain Ron, a typical sailing comedy starring Marty Short. Just a coincidence, this type of movie could be one interesting epic to be blogged down here. It's as if my holiday trip! At the same time, the usual, glued to my PC clearing and reshuffling datas.

Also, most of the day I will have both Messengers ( Windows Live iM and Yahoo iM ) on; and whoever is online will be able to spend their daily happenings with me. An old childhood ( ok, teenager )  friend of mine Steven who works in one of the Telcos who comes in on and off the line. Sometimes he would give me a node but most of the time he is too busy even to acknowledge my existence on the internet.

On the other hand, while I post this bLoG on my ACER Notebook with the EDGE broadband, all our hamsters are enjoying their afternoon nap, except one, which is always so busy climbing up and down the watching tower that I created for them to play about.

In case you wanna know a little bit more about me on my day, well, here goes.

I woke up very early each weekday from the alarm of my Nokia with the first alert hiting me @6.10 am and I will get up 5 minutes later. Start the engine of my car then slip into my casual wear. In about 5 minutes, I will be on my way, sending my 12 year old boy to school. Usually I will reach home at about 7am. All the early beginning of a brand new day done in about half an hour. I would also occasionally pop by either at the 7-Eleven convenient store or a "mamak" bookstall or at times passed by a roadside peddlar to get a copy of our local papers, the STAR and/or the New Straits Times and a pack of cigarettes.

This cigarette thing at times do get on my nerves! Well, you see I am one of the few who smoke and collect the empty boxes! Yeap! Keeping them as my collectibles. Anyone out having this hobby? I could even purchase the whole set if it is a newly launched pack.

The cigarettes company would label them Special Edition or Limited Edition. I am such regular buyer and because of the way I buy my cigarettes, at times I'd ask them for the empty outer covers or cardboard display stands. Better ties vendors would even give me their bigger display stands or even the metal / aluminium built casings. Crazy some would think. I could fill up my whole room like my store room downstairs. This room upstairs is supposed to be my study room which eventually turned into somewhat like a secondary store room!

Would have spoken more on the start of a brand new day in this brand new blog,

but already i am being over-bragged! Let's call it a day for now. Would definitely continue further on My Free Journey after this past time. See ya!
